My fourth grade students have been working on Destination Imagination projects. They were given 12 sheets of white paper and had to use them to build the tallest free standing tower. The students were only able to fold and tear the paper, no other tools were used in the process.

Recently, my Elementary gifted students completed an Amusement Park project. The students were required to create their own Amusement Park. The students had the option to write about their parks or they could create a 3D model. Here are some examples of their fabulous work.

Rubik's Cubes
We have started the school year out with one of my favorite, and a classroom favorite activity. We have been solving the Rubik's cube! One of our first lessons dealt with creating a cube using graph paper and net designs. The students task was to discover which nets would create a cube. As a bonus for this activity they could create a paper version of the Rubik's cube. I had one group that successfully made the cube! More updates to come as we continue to work the cube...

Elementary Independent Projects
My elementary gifted students also completed their own independent projects. One of my students learned how to create a a variety of origami pieces, and the other learned a number of magic tricks. The student that learned the magic tricks not only wanted to show them to me, but asked if she could put on a show for the kindergarten class. The kids loved the show, she did an excellent job being a magician, and she perfected her public speaking skills.
